My life has been one of creating opportunities for myself and others. While acting I developed a workshop “the Business of Acting” before it became a business. I did this to help others who wanted to enter the profession. I had the good fortune of graduating the High School of Performing Arts and then receiving a BA from Hunter College. At both institutions I graduated with Awards in Acting I was a professional actress for 13 years until I realized although I had the talent, I didn’t have the passion. I moved on to creating Selective Casting/Internationally Speaking which I did for 29 years. When it was time for me to retire, I turned the business over to my assistant and the company continues to this day.
After retiring I volunteered in helping formerly incarcerated men and woman prepare for the job market. I also accompanied Immigrants facing Immigration Court. For 9 years, I helped out at the Dwelling Place feeding homeless women. I was chair of the Ethical Action Committee, Awards Committee and a Trustee of Ethical for several years. I now am a part of an Intergenerational Program at Dorot and a member of the Westside Dems as well as a member of the Program Committee for the League of Women Voters.
I want to work with the Social Service Board specifically to support the Social Justice Network and the formation of the Democracy Center at the Amsterdam Houses.
